2009

Went fast didn't it? A lot happened in 2009. Since it's already the middle of March in 2010 I would just like to say that I'm thrilled to get onto my blog again. And it was strictly by accident. I wasn't trying. We were in Virginia visiting with Douglas and his family from mid-December 2008 until April 2009. We had stopped for a few days with Donny in Albuequerque for our first Christmas of the season. Christmas Day '08 was in Houston with Deborah and Jim at our granddaughter's. We had Christmas again when we got to the kids in Conyers, GA. When we got to Doug's we discovered that they had left their Christmas tree up so we could have a 4th family Christmas. It was a wonderful road trip. We were in Washington DC for Cherry Blossom Festival and toured up and down the east coast for 4 1/2 months. There is so much of our ancestral history in the east. The day we left Virginia it was 65 degrees outside. The day we drove into our
Arizona driveway it was 104 degrees. And the temp went higher and higher until September. We had about the hottest long summer we've ever had to endure. To make it worse I miss being with my kids and grandkids. I have nice friends and keep active, but I'm very unhappy living here on the desert. Douglas was transferred to Maryland later in the year. In October we drove to Albuquerque, NM to stay with Donny for a couple days. We left our car with them and flew to Washington, DC for Thanksgiving Day with Douglas and his family. They had booked a 5 day stay for all of us in Atlantic City, NJ. We had a great time. We visited Annapolis, MD on the way to Atlantic City and Philadelphia on the way back to Maryland. Almost overnight we had a new year. January whooshed by with us hosting an "emptynester" pot-luck dinner group from church. We went to the Las Vegas Temple in February and now that we're half way through March we're making the Temple trip again.
